THE PROJECT

IN THE LAST YEARS HAVE COME REALISING DIFFERENT STUDIES THAT HAVE PUT OF SELF-EVIDENT, A SHRINKING OF THE POPULATIONS OF SOME OF THE SPECIES PISCÍCOLAS CIPRINÍCOLAS OF THE CUENCA OF THE DUERO And TAJO, AS WELL AS THE INCREASE OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF EXOTIC SPECIES.

Like consequence of these studies appreciates the urgent need to take measures in front of the regression of these populations, considering the zone of Salamanca one of the main areas of interest, by the number of LICs associated to the half hídrico, and the composition and degree of protection of the communities piscícolas autochthonous and endemic that can find in her, some in concrete only in this territorial zone and considered in danger or loomed.

With this aim, the Hydrographic Confederation of the Duero like beneficiario coordinator, and the Board of Castile and Leon, The Foundation Natural Heritage and the Hydrographic Confederation of the Tajo, all they like beneficiarios associated, presented a project LIFE+ so as to protect and establish a protocol for the recovery of the populations of ciprínidos autochthonous endemic of the zone southwest of the province of Salamanca, as well as conserve and restore the natural habitats in which they find .

The 30/04/14 the Commission Europe made public the list of adjudicators of the announcement LIFE+ of the year 2013, being the project of reference LIFE13 NAT/IS/000772 “PERFORMANCES FOR THE PROTECTION And CONSERVATION OF CIPRINÍDOS IBERIAN OF INTEREST COMUNITARIO -CIPRÍBER-“ one of the selected.

The zone of performance locates in the southwest of the province of Salamanca because of the composition and degree of protection of the communities piscícolas autochthonous and endemic that can find in her (some of which, only are presents in this territorial zone and find considered in danger), as well as by the number of LICs present, associated to the half hídrico.

· Achieve improve the populations of these ciprínidos endemic in zone of high value, in which they exist LICs with included species in Annex II of the Managerial Habitats

· Develop a protocol of child in captivity to compensate the state of current regression of his populations, and serve of experience so that his technical can be extrapolated to other territorial fields, even transfronterizos

· Increase the technical knowledge and scientist on the species to determine the afección by the environmental pressures and the elimination of the same

· Achieve conditions of fluvial habitat that make possible the best distribution and situation the populations by means of the elimination of existent pressures in the courses and restoration of habitats, advancing to the good ecological state

· Evaluate the results obtained and determine the feasibility and efficiency of the child in captivity, checking if the methodology applied is efficient like strategy generalizable of conservation

· Define a program of management piscícola and hídrica, that put of self-evident the repercussions that will derive of the project (zones to protect, procedures of performance, necessary tools, etc), for his back implementation post-LIFE

· Share the knowledge obtained with scientific groups and authorities for the conservation of the biodiversidad

· Spread problematic and solutions to the public in general

THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS to PROTECT And SEAT THE BASES FOR THE RECOVERY OF THE POPULATIONS OF CIPRÍNIDOS AUTOCHTHONOUS ENDEMIC OF INTEREST To EFFECTS OF THE ANNEX II OF THE MANAGERIAL HABITATS, THAT LOCATE IN THE LICS OF THE SOUTHWEST OF SALAMANCA, BY HIS SPECIAL CHARACTERISTIC OF DISTRIBUTION And OF THREAT, BY MEANS OF THE EXECUTION OF CONCRETE PERFORMANCES IN THESE LICS, And IN CONCRETE:

Preparatory actions

Actions of Conservation

Actions of Follow-up and Monitoring

Actions of Divulging and Public Participation

Actions of Management

In the group of the LICs of the project present the following five included species in the Annex II of the Managerial Habitats:

• Chondrostoma polylepis

• Rutilus lemmingii

• Rutilus arcasii

• Rutilus alburnoides

• Cobitis taenia

To this respecto fits to signal that it has produced a variation of the classification taxonómica of these species. The changes taxonómicos more important are:

• In the actuality, Chondrostoma polylepis has divided also in two species, both in the zone of project: the properly said Chondrostoma polylepis (cattail of river), that in the actuality designates Pseudochondrostoma polylepis; and another species that is own of the basin of the Duero, designated Pseudochondrostoma duriense (cattail of the Duero).

• The species Rutilus lemmingii has divided in two distinct species: Iberochondrostoma lemmingii (pardilla) and a new species that designates Achondrostoma salmantinum (sarda) that locates in the field of the project. This new species is cataloged by the UICN as In danger, and is endemic only of the zone of performance that corresponds with the basin of the Duero.

• In the actuality Rutilus arcasii designates Achondrostoma arcasii.

• In the actuality Rutilus alburnoides designates Squalius alburnoides.

• Similar situation occurs him to the Cobitis taenia, that in the actuality corresponds , in the zone of performance, with other two distinct species, Cobitis paludica (colmilleja) and Cobitis vettonica (colmilleja of the Alagón). This last species is cataloged by the UICN as In danger, and is endemic only of a concrete zone of the Basins of the Duero and Tajo, fundamentally in the field of this project.

Other species of ciprínidos autochthonous of interest in the field of the project are:

• Squalius carolitertii

• Squalius pyrenaicus
